JEE Advanced 2018 LIVE: Around 2.2 lakh students turned up for the JEE Advanced Study, which will take place at various centers across the country

JEE Extended 2018 LIVE: Around 2.2 lakh students turned up for the JEE Advanced exam today, May 20th, just finishing the exam. The paper ended at 12, and students of physics paper hard, with chemistry, math paper easy. The JEE Advanced Exam will be conducted by IIT Kanpur this year. Those who qualify for the exam will be eligible to be enrolled in the bachelor-integrated master and dual study programs (entry in the 10 + 2 level) in all IITs. The exam takes place in two sessions, Paper 1 and Paper 2. The timing for Paper 1 will be from 9am to 12pm and for Paper 2 from 2am to 5pm.

This year, to improve the gender balance in the Bachelor programs at the IITs from the current (roughly) to 8 percent to 14 percent in 2018-19, the decision was made to create surplus seats specifically for female candidates without any reduction in the number of seats offered to male candidates. These seats are offered (a) only to those candidates who meet the requirements JEE (Advanced) - 2018.

Confusion about the placement of decimal

#JEEADVANCED I would ask that the concerned authorities consider X and X. 00 as the same, because these shouldn't be indicative of the hard work a student has for two years. And many good aspirants have made these mistakes.

In Paper 2, math was found hard, while physics and chemistry were easy. The total marks of each paper were reduced from 183 to 180. There were more integral questions than last year and questions relating to the interlinking of two or more topics were also more than last year. Joint ranking list - 125 + -5%.

Paper 2 also had 54 questions and maximum marks 180. Each topic had 3 sections. Section 1 was again several options, the right kind, with partial marking-as in Paper-1. Section 2 was again numeric where you have to round up to second after decimal #JEEADVANCED

JEE Extended 2018: Paper comparison with last year

The appropriate type questions had two columns to be matched. Last year (2017) there were three-pillar questions.

Class XI & XII were given equal weighting.

The total marks of each paper is reduced from 183 to 180.

When paper was performed by computer-based mode, neither printing of the paper question nor the copy of the answer sheet was given to students.

Students ’reaction on paper 2: Math: hard, physics, chemistry-easy

The immediate reaction of the students according to Paper-2:

You found the general level of the paper moderate level. The math section was difficult compared to Physics & Chemistry.

No errors reported so far as a full paper is not yet to be analyzed.

Overall none. Questions (54 questions) remain the same as last year, but the total marked JEE Extended Paper-2 has increased from 183 to 180 marks this year.

Compared to Paper-1, Student-Paper-2 was relatively tough.

JEE-Advanced-2018: Experts take on paper-2

Max tags: 180 & duration: 3 hours

The paper had (54) questions in total.

The paper 1 had (03) three parts, physics, chemistry & math.

Max. Marks for each part became 60.

In each part there are three sections - Sec-1 (Max. Marks-24), Sec-2 (Max. Marks-24) and Sec-3 (Max. Marks-12)

Sec-1 had (06) six questions with four options in which one or more than one options were correct. The labeling scheme in this section is +4 if all options are correct, and +1 for each correct answer, 0 points for no answer and -2 for all other cases. Maximum grades for this section was 24.

Sek-2 had (08) Eight questions with the correct answer becomes a numerical value. For each question the correct numerical value has been rounded to the second decimal place. (E.g: 6.25,7.00, -127.30). The making system was +3 for the correct answer and 0 points for all other cases. Maximum grades for this section was 24.

Sec-3 had (04) four questions. Each question had two (02) matching List I and List II. Only one of the four options corresponds to the correct match. Marking scheme in this section becomes +3 if the desired option is marked, 0 points if none of the options is marked, and -1 in all other cases. Maximum grades for this section was 12.

Students were given a leaflet that they could carry after the exam.

Students could neither copy paper questions nor copy their answers unlike the offline exams held until last year.

JEE Advanced 2018: Courses offered

Through JEE, inclusion in undergraduate courses, help in obtaining a bachelor, integrated, master or bachelor-master double degree in mechanical engineering, science or architecture. The exam is carried out is carried out by the seven zone coordinators of IITs.

779 places reserved for students working in IITs

This year the IITs decided to reserve seats for female candidates. As per-reports, 779 reserve seats will be allocated in various IITs for female engineering candidates. IIT Kharagpur has 113 seats, IIT Dhanbad - 95 seats, IIT Kanpur - 79 seats, IIT BHU - 76, IIT Roorkee - 68, IIT Delhi - 59, IIT Bombay - 58, IIT Guwahati - 57.

That year, the cut-off for the general category was 74. For OBC / NCL category, the cut-off 45, SC-29, ST-34, PWD-35. Last year, the JEE main cut -off was tied at 81 to the General category, while the cut-offs for the OBC, SC, and ST categories was 49, 32, and 27, respectively.

JEE Extended 2018: Analysis of Paper I

Paper 1 was found on May 20, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The questions paper has three parts: physics, chemistry and math.

Section 1 contains 6 questions. Given +4, the right options are chosen for everyone. +3 is given when all four options are the correct bu only three options are chosen. -2 marks for all other cases. In other words: it is 0 points if none of the options is selected (i.e. the question is left unanswered)

Section 2 contains 8 questions in the "Integer Type". The answers ranged from 0 to 9. +3 for the correct answer and 0 points for all other cases. In other words, there is no negative mark in this section. This section has the numeric value truncated / roundoff to two decimal places. This is the change compared to previous years.

Section 3 contains 2 (two) paragraphs. Each of the questions has 4 options. +3 is only used for the correct answer and -1 marks just in case. In other words, it is 0 points if none of the options is selected.

Overall the paper 1 was mediocre this year.
