Uber co-founder Travis Kalanick is starting small again: He is now the head of a start-up with 15 employees. Kalanick, who last year had to vacate the head of the driving service broker under pressure from dissatisfied investors, bought the small company City Storage Systems for 150 million US dollars, as he announced on Tuesday night on Twitter. Their business model is to bring run-down properties back into shape, with a focus on parking lots, retail and hospitality as well as industrial areas.

The Kalanick leadership style

Kalanick, 41, was seen as the driving force behind Uber's aggressive global expansion. At the same time, however, his management style was also made responsible for a lousy corporate culture with sexism and discrimination. Early Uber investors forced Kalanick to leave and start over with the company. The new boss Dara Khosrowshahi assured, among other things, that Uber will strictly adhere to laws in the future.
