IndianOil hires Emerson to upgrade their refineries to meet fuel standards

Largest Indian Refiner Selects Emerson as Automation Partner to Completely Upgrade Emissions Control Measures Under 2020 Strategy for Fuel Purity

MUMBAI, India (March 1, 2019) - Emerson (NYSE: EMR), the technology and engineering leader, announced today that it has signed multiple contracts valued at $ 12 million with Indian Oil Corporation Limited. The agreements include the modernization of emissions control operations at the refineries of the largest commercial oil company in India.

Under the terms of the contract, Emerson will be the primary automation company. Its extensive expertise in the field of refineries paired with state-of-the-art technologies will support IndianOil in meeting the national emissions standard Bharat Stage VI (BS-VI) for low-sulfur fuels, which will come into force on April 1, 2020. The BS-VI emission standard prescribes a maximum sulfur content of 10 ppm, which corresponds to the guidelines set by the European Union, the USA and other countries. In addition, the standard includes limit values ​​for carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides and fine dust.
