What is a Salpa Maggiore fish

Transparent fish: photo and description. Salpa Maggiore - transparent fish

Nature constantly surprises us with rare and very interesting plants and animals. Many inhabitants of the reservoirs belong to the amazing and unusual representatives of the fauna. One of them is a transparent fish. This is one of the rare species that not everyone knows about.

Navy "glasses"

In order to survive, fish are forced to disguise themselves. Stripes and spots on the fins and body, different colors of the scales and different outgrowths help them to blend in with the background that surrounds them. But there is a very extravagant and easiest way to become invisible in the water. It becomes transparent as if it were dissolving into the native element. To lose color on a marine animal, it is enough to lose the reflective surface, such as mirror scales.

It is a known fact that the glass that has been lowered into the water is almost invisible to the human eye. This type of camouflage was chosen for itself and a wide variety of fish in the seas and freshwater waters. And these species are often not related to each other. "Glass" fish can be found under aquarium animals.

New Zealand wonder

Fisherman Stuart Fraser stumbled upon an unusual creature near the Karikari peninsula. First he took it for a crumpled cellophane bag that slowly slid across the surface of the water. Looking closely, Stewart realized that this is a living organism. Until then, the fisherman saw nothing of the kind in the sea and did not dare to take the animal in his hands at first.

However, a person's curiosity takes precedence over fear. A very strange and completely transparent fish was extracted from the water. Her body was covered with unstable scales of a jelly-like species. Therefore, the transparent fish looked more like a jellyfish. In an amazing marine animal, practically all internal organs were practically invisible except for a tiny teardrop-shaped organ painted in red. Fraser took a few pictures of the amazing fish and allowed it to return to its original element.

A new kind of inhabitant of the pond?

Pictures of the amazing creature Stuart Fras were shown to Paul Kast, who is the director of the National Marine Aquarium. After studying the photographs, he discovered that this creature is nothing more than Salpa Maggiore - a transparent fish. This species looks like a jellyfish but is still closely related to marine vertebrates.

Salpa Maggiore - transparent fish (see photo) see below). However, it has a heart and gills. There are also special filters in this fish. They run water through their bodies and collect food in the form of phytoplankton and algae.

Salpa Maggiore is a see-through fish rice in large groups. The peculiarity of this species is that the individuals of this being have no gender. They are able to produce offspring independently and form mass stakes.

Salpa Maggiore - transparent fish (Photo confirms her unusual appearance), and she looks like a creature from a horror movie. But you shouldn't be afraid of that. This is an absolutely harmless creature that eats a platter. The transparent body is just a mask that can protect the fish from attacks by marine predators, which like these live in the surface water layers.

Very little information is collected about the fish of Salpa Maggiore. Scientists point to one of the subspecies salsa, which includes about thirty types. In addition, it is known that these invertebrates prefer to live in the cold waters of the Southern Ocean.

Transparent fish Salpa Maggiore has barrel shape. On the water, it moves by pumping fluid through its body. The fish's jelly stem is covered with transparent scales through which the circular muscles and intestines are visible. On the surface of an unusual creature, you can see two holes from siphons. One of them is oral, leads into a large pharynx, and the second is cloacal. Siphon holes are located on opposite ends of the fish's transparent body. On the ventral side of the sea, the animal is the heart.

Amazing inhabitants of the Baikal waters

Unusual creatures are not only found in the seasand oceans. For example, there is a transparent fish in Lake Baikal. It is an animal that does not have a swim bladder or scales. Also, thirty-five percent of his body is fat. This fish inhabits the great depth of Lake Baikal. Its individuals are viviparous.

What is the name of the transparent fish of Lake Baikal? The Golomyanka. This name comes from the Russian word "holomene", which means "open sea". It conveys, surprisingly, precisely the existing features of the etiology of this species of fish.

Golomyanka refined the bones of the skull. In particular, she developed dorsal, pectoral and anal fins. Golomyanka are very fertile. One person is able to produce nearly two thousand patties. Reproduction occurs through gynogenesis, which is characteristic only of this species.

Transparent Baikal fish can withstand an enormous pressure of one hundred and twenty-five bars. Therefore the place of his dwelling is the bottom of this deep pond.

Fish feed using a passive method. Golomyanka literally float in the water with the help of their pectoral fins. At the same time, their mouths are constantly open and able to instantly catch floating food in the form of benthic amphipods, epishura and macrocoenopus, and other foods.

It is believed that the golomyanka fat was used as lamp oil in ancient times. This transparent fish played a major role in Chinese and Mongolian medicine. It was captured during the wars to restore the strength of the wounded soldiers.

Transparent pole

"Glass" fish is also found among the more well-known species. You are also among the representatives of the Percida family. Ambassidae is one of the subspecies of these fish, also called Glass Asia. These aquatic vertebrates are characterized by a tall and short, slightly conical trunk. They have a certain concavity in the neck of the occiput. Transparent tissues of these fish allow you to see the skeleton, as well as the shiny films that cover the gills and internal organs.

Having long braids on unpaired finsA transparent fish, the name of which is a glass angel. Representatives of this family do not have scales on their bodies. The most extravagant appearance, however, is the big bass perch. A huge disk-like outgrowth, reminiscent of a hump, hangs over the head of this fish.

Aquarium bass

The most common for a home are the ParambassisRanga. This is an Indian glass perch. This fish received an unjustified reputation for being restless and moody in content. This opinion was formed on the assumption that she prefers to live in brackish water. Of course, some representatives of this family live in the seas. Indian glass perch - a resident of low-flow freshwater. This fish prefers some acidic and soft water. In such conditions, it will easily take root in the aquarium and will not cause unnecessary problems for its owner.

It should be noted, however, that glass Indian perch like to eat natural foods and reject grains. In addition, it is desirable to have a flock of a dozen or more fish in a home aquarium. The fact is that lonely individuals or those who live in small groups become very shy and oppressed. In addition, their appetite worsens.

Glass catfish

This is another transparent fish for the aquarium. Despite its name, it is impossible to recognize its close relatives from catfish that live in our reservoirs. The torso of these fish is compressed from the sides and not vertically. This is because the Asiatic glass catfish is not lying on the ground. They actively move around in the water and live in herds. Transparent body tissues allow you to see the filaments of the ribs and thin spine of these amazing fish. At first glance, there doesn't seem to be an abdominal cavity with internal organs. However, this is not the case. All of them are relocated to the head and are similar to the continuation of the gills.

Glass catfish can't just be Asian. There is also one species of African fish that belongs to the Shilbo family. Outwardly, they bear an incredible resemblance to their Asian namesakes. However, they are not as transparent and differ in elongated black stripes that extend along the sides of the fuselage. Another distinguishing feature of this family is a remarkably developed adipose fin, as well as four, rather than two, pairs of tendrils on the head.

Transparent titles

Decorate a home aquarium and small fishfamily Characidae. Her body is only painted with a small palette of flowers. As a rule, these are only individual pigmented areas that are barely noticeable on the weak background of the trunk. Such points are distinctive features. They only blink when the light hits them at a certain angle. These suddenly appearing spots that play with all the colors of the rainbow look great in a slightly darkened aquarium. However, in this family there are absolutely transparent fish. In her torso facing the skylight you can only see a swim bladder. Even so, this fish also has an ornament. It is represented by a red tail at the base and a thin strip of greenish color stretched along the trunk. Containing such a fish is easy even for novice enthusiasts, as it is very frugal for the aquarium conditions.

Harax Conde

This is a relatively large fish that comes as close as possible to the ideal of "glass". Its tall, diamond-shaped body is slightly golden in color.

The transparency of this fish is not used for disguises from enemies. The fact is that Harax is a predator himself. In order to wait for the prey, this fish can spend many hours in ambush. The transparent body makes it invisible in the water. At the same time, Harax hangs motionless in the thicket of water vegetation.

The usual riddleia prilelet

On the anal and dorsal fins of this brood there are spots of yellow and black colors. Its tail is reddish in color. But despite such a coloring, this is attributed to the transparent fish. "Glass" is her body. The stomach and intestines of the fish and the gills behind the gill covers can only be seen in the abdominal cavity.
