What is the best fishing idea

20 years of the Rhöner Angel idea - being faster with a stroke

This year it is 20 years since the Rhön Clinic and the Red Cross turned an idea into reality that is now an indispensable part of emergency and stroke care.

Professor Dr. Bernd Griewing therefore took a look back at the past at the opening of the 2018 Angel Workshop. Everything began with simple cell phone equipment, which was then made available to the emergency services by the neurological clinic. Over the years, the system has developed further and further up to today's Angel system, which is now a permanent feature in numerous clinics in Germany and can be found on every Bavarian ambulance. It enables important patient data to be transferred to the treating hospital at an early stage, even before the patient is admitted there. This results in a time advantage that is sometimes vital.

The professor, who was co-initiator at the time, therefore thanked the Red Cross and Maltese emergency services for their excellent cooperation. Ideas such as the Angel system could only be implemented together. It goes without saying that the future will bring further improvements.

Teamwork is everything

Bad Neustadt's mayor Bruno Altrichter highlighted the Rhönklinikum as an important part of the Bad Neustadt health location. Again and again they are working on further progress and have the rescue services on board. These innovations are striking signs for the Bad Neustadt location. The clinic and thus Bad Neustadt are also well-known nationwide. Mayor Bruno Altrichter: "Many thanks on behalf of the city of Bad Neustadt for your service to humanity."

Uwe Kippnich, who led through the afternoon, underlined the very good cooperation with the city of Bad Neustadt, which always has an open ear for the needs of the rescue service. His thanks also went to the Malteser Aid Service for the good teamwork. "We work hand in hand for the benefit of our people."

Unexpected dimensions

About the fishing workshop, he said that the topics were very well chosen. In the past few years everything has taken on a dimension that one certainly did not expect. He said it was important to have the courage to be calm, for example in order to gradually introduce modern telemedical solutions.

The digital change brings scientifically proven success for patients. There was praise for the very good interdisciplinary cooperation with the auxiliary services, the nursing staff and the doctors, especially at the sensitive interface during patient handover.

Burkhard Bingel from the management of the Rhönklinikum campus emphasized that the campus concept enables cross-sector medical care, which is made possible, among other things, by the strong digital networking of all actors involved in the treatment process.

Relocation of the Rhön district clinic

“We offer comprehensive care from a single source.” Prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and care. Resident doctors and clinicians, therapists and nurses work closely together to ensure the best possible quality of treatment.

Discussion about telemedicine

New developments in the field of telemedicine, with the help of which rescue services and clinic staff can digitally network and communicate directly, were discussed in Bad Neustadt on Saturday. "The close cooperation with our partners such as the Center for Telemedicine Bad Kissingen, the general practitioners, emergency doctors and the emergency services is extremely important, especially in the course of our campus concept," emphasizes Dr. Hassan Soda, senior physician in charge of the neurological clinic.

Sebastian Dresbach from the management of the Center for Telemedicine Bad Kissingen talked about the interface between the rescue service and the clinic. The topic "Central Emergency Room" was spoken by Dr. Michael Schneider, Chief Physician of the Clinic for Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine. He is supported by an experienced emergency medical team and specialist nursing staff.

In the new central emergency room at the Rhönklinikum there are two shock rooms, computer tomographs, two additional rooms for minor surgical interventions and several treatment and examination rooms. The cardiac catheterization laboratories are in the immediate vicinity. In the emergency room, patients can be medically monitored and cared for for up to 24 hours.

The project "Stroke Helpers Lower Franconia" was presented, which provides volunteer helpers to stroke patients and thus supports their way back into everyday life (we reported).
