Lake of Charity goes Green

The Actionsport Charity Event of the Year wins award for sustainability - Lake of Charity 2019 from 26.-28. July

Saalbach-Hinterglemm (OTS) -The Lake of Charity in Saalbach Hinterglemm - a lake full of charity, joie de vivre, sport and creativity, which is also increasingly dedicated to environmental protection. In 2019 the event goes into its ninth round and also serves a good cause for nature. Because the Lake of Charity has been certified as an official Green Event in the State of Salzburg since 2018. What is done for it? From A for arrival, to K for clothes swap, to Z for a green future idea, the Lake of Charity is realized as an environmentally friendly and resource-saving event. These efforts were honored with the "Sustainable Winning" award from the Federal Ministry for Sustainable Tourism on June 13th at the Green Events Austria Gala in Burgenland.

You can find hustle and bustle, happy faces, action sports, a cozy atmosphere, live bands and, above all, lots of love and charity from July 26th - 28th, 2019 around the normally quiet Gerstreit reservoir pond. The GlemmBang crew has been organizing the “Lake of Charity” since 2011 and has since collected around € 380,000 for families in need from the Pinzgau region.

At the Lake of Charity, sustainability is also considered in all facets. Drinks are now only available in reusable cups in order to produce as little waste as possible. The “veggional” (ie vegetarian and regional) and increasingly organic dishes are served in reusable dishes or dishes made from renewable raw materials or recycled paper. The green electricity comes from the regional socket, namely from the hydropower plants in Kaprun. And when it comes to mobile toilets, the Öklos with sawdust instead of chemicals are using sustainable alternatives. If there is some garbage, it is sorted according to type in LOC-Handmade garbage stations. After all, the lake should be left the way we found it.

These measures are only a part of what contributed to the fact that the Lake of Charity 2018 was nominated for the competition "Sustainable Winning" by the Federal Ministry for Sustainable Tourism and was awarded at the Green Events Austria Gala on June 13, 2019 in Esterhazy Palace . A step towards a healthier future for the environment. But this can only be set together. "We are very happy that our concept was convincing and we hope that even more organizers will pay more attention to the sustainability of their events in the future. I do not think that our event is better or worse than the other projects presented here. Everyone who is here Project is doing its best to keep the ecological footprint as small as possible. And that's exactly why we're all here ", said the initiator of the Lake of Charity Andrea Gensbichler. "Everyone who was at the Green Events Austria Gala today can learn from each other and will hopefully take home new ideas for their next projects. We, for our part, have definitely learned from the others and we hope they will from us too . "

The green mission at the Lake of Charity is clear. Messages should be set to approach our nature, resources and all fellow human beings with more appreciation. Because there is no planet B!
