Exceptional box office success, award-winning, unmatched. Parts II (6 Oscars, including best supporting role for Robert De Niro) and III (7 Oscar nominations) tell the story of the Corleone family and also address the clan's history in flashbacks.

2) GOODFELLAS THREE DECADES IN THE MAFIA (1990)

For many, the best mafia movie of all time - the story (based on a true story) of New York gangster Henry Hill, and his life within the mob. Ingeniously staged by Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro, Ray Liotta and Joe Pesci (supporting roles Oscar) make a big splash (the rain of prizes at the 1991 Academy Awards went to Kevin Costner's western epic Dances with Wolves). Good Fellas served as inspiration for the TV series The Sopranos, which set new standards in the series genre in 1999.

Magnificent gangster epic by Sergio Leone with Robert De Niro James Woods. The plot is based on the partially autobiographical novel The Hoods by Harry Gray (a pseudonym of Herschel Goldberg), the film tells the story of a gang in New York - but was only appreciated internationally by film critics and audiences after the death of Sergio Leone. The complex and highly budgeted $ 30 million material on which Sergio Leone worked for almost ten years did not find an audience when it was released.

The film about the rise and fall of New York mafia boss John Gotti (John Travolta) premiered at the 2018 Cannes Festival. He was nicknamed "Teflon-Don" because no charges resulted in conviction. His son John A. Gotti follows in his father's footsteps at a young age and is a made man at the age of 24, while Gotti sr. was eventually sentenced to life imprisonment in 1992. After he was diagnosed with cancer while in custody, his reformed son informed him on his deathbed in 2002 that he was leaving the organization and becoming solid.

12) THE IRISHMAN (2019)

First of all, Martin Scorsese's latest film takes a seat, but on the other hand, Netflix invented the binge, so The Irishman could also be viewed as a miniseries with multiple episodes. His gangster opus lasts three and a half hours, the life of Frank Sheeran (Robert De Niro), who becomes a professional killer of the mafia, is told. For two reasons: he learned the craft of killing in WWII, and he also speaks Italian because he served in Sicily. Capo Bufalino (Joe Pesci) approves of both, so he sets up Sheeran as a henchman. One day he becomes the bodyguard of the seedy union leader Jimmy Hoffa (Al Pacino) Almost Pity. As I said, very long, but still great cinema. In the end, you almost feel sorry for the old hit man, whose life has completely failed. Pacino & De Niro play Oscar-worthy!
