What is hylophobia

This is an extensive, albeit presumably incomplete, list of those phobias that can be distinguished from other anxiety disorders due to their particular triggers. Unless otherwise mentioned, these are specific phobias (also: isolated phobias; ICD-10 F40.2). General information on the definition and classification of different phobias and fears can be found in the article Anxiety Disorder.

On the part of research, the relevance or meaningfulness of many separate terms for the specific phobias is questioned and e.g. fears of animals are often summarized - not least in order to be able to work with sufficiently large numbers of cases. However, it is also argued that a precise distinction is essential for therapists.

This list also includes phobias that are simply referred to as such. It can therefore also be used to break down phobia names which arise from popular scientific sources or from popular literature. A mention on this list does not mean that the "phobia" is medically / scientifically recognized as such.

Individual articles should only be created on medically / scientifically recognized phobias, based on clear sources.
